It is also a powerful tool in transforming abstract meaning into concrete displays of reality through programming. This is true across the Arab world and in the UAE, the research site of this study. In many countries, televisions have become a common and prominent feature in households. The television presents different programs and contents to audiences, one of which is dubbed serials, the focus of this study (Strasburger, Jordan & Donnerstein 2010 Jado, 2011). McChesney (2000) added that the television impacts the audience through both images and sounds, leading to both positive and negative effects. But this connectivity is a double-edged weapon.
